What Is the Average
Anklet Size?
Most adult women wear an anklet between 23cm and 26cm. The average female ankle circumference is 20–23cm — an anklet needs 2–3cm of ease above that to sit comfortably and move naturally. Here’s how the sizes break down.
9″ anklet length
9.8″ anklet length
10.6″ anklet length
11.4″+ anklet length
Anklet sizes include 2–3cm of ease above the ankle circumference for a comfortable standard fit. Add an extra 1–2cm if you prefer a looser, dangling style.

Find Your Anklet Size
in Two Minutes
All you need is a tape measure or a piece of string and a ruler. Takes less than two minutes.
Wrap a flexible tape measure around the narrowest part of your ankle — typically just above the ankle bone. Keep it level and snug but not tight. Note the measurement in centimetres. Most adult women measure between 20cm and 23cm at this point.
No tape measure? Wrap a piece of string around your ankle, mark where it meets, then measure the string flat against a ruler. An anklet needs extra length above your ankle measurement so it can sit comfortably and move naturally. Add 2–3cm for a standard fit where the anklet hangs slightly loose. Add 1cm for a snugger fit. Add 3–4cm for a relaxed, dangling style. This gives you your anklet length.
Example: ankle measures 22cm + 3cm ease = 25cm anklet. This is the most common size.Feet and ankles swell slightly throughout the day — typically by 0.5–1cm from morning to evening. If you plan to wear your anklet all day, measure in the afternoon or evening for the most accurate fit. If you measure in the morning and the anklet feels snug by evening, this is why.
Measuring in the afternoon gives you the most reliable everyday size.Anklet Fit Styles —

Unlike bracelets, anklets are usually visible when worn and the way they sit on the ankle is part of the look. Your preferred fit affects which size to choose.
Sits close to the ankle with minimal movement. More like a cuff than a chain. Less likely to catch on clothing or shoes. Good for active wear or layering multiple anklets.
Sits comfortably around the ankle with a small amount of movement. Visible chain, slight swing when walking. The most common and versatile fit — works for everyday wear, the beach, and most occasions.
RecommendedHangs lower on the ankle with visible movement when walking. Creates a relaxed, boho feel. Popular for beach and summer wear where the anklet is intended to be seen and heard. Less practical for office or formal settings.

Quick Answers
The average female ankle measures 20–23cm in circumference. With the standard 2–3cm of ease added for comfort, this means the most common anklet size for women is 23–26cm, with 25cm being the single most purchased size. If you’re buying for an adult woman with no measurement, 25cm is the safest default.
Wrap a tape measure around the narrowest part of your ankle, just above the ankle bone. Keep it snug but not tight. Add 2–3cm to that number for a standard fit. For example: 22cm ankle + 3cm ease = 25cm anklet. Measure in the afternoon for the most accurate result, as ankles tend to swell slightly through the day.
Choose 25cm as a default for most adult women — it fits the majority of average builds with a comfortable standard fit. For petite or slim builds, 23cm may be more appropriate. For taller or fuller builds, 27cm. Better yet, choose an adjustable anklet and remove the sizing question entirely.
Your ankle size is the circumference of your ankle — typically measured in centimetres around the narrowest point. Your anklet size is the total length of the chain, which needs to be larger than your ankle size to fit comfortably. A standard anklet is 2–3cm longer than the ankle circumference to allow natural movement and a comfortable fit.
Feet and ankles swell slightly throughout the day — by 0.5–1cm on average — due to gravity and circulation. If your anklet feels snug by evening but comfortable in the morning, your measurement was taken when your ankle was at its smallest. Measure in the afternoon for a more reliable result, or size up by 0.5–1cm from your morning measurement.
